| Noah not letting shoulder injury slow him down
-- Joakim Noah took an entry pass, planted and scored on Michigan's Courtney Sims. He held up his hands during defense and on a defensive slide drill across the lane. He bench pressed. He did everything he was asked to do during Monday's NBA draft workout for the Boston Celtics. It was no different for the Florida junior forward when he went through workouts for Chicago, Charlotte and Minnesota last week. It won't be any different when he works out for Memphis, Sacramento or Atlanta in the next two weeks. .
Dear old dad By Kathy Williams
It's 1979 and Kramer squares off against Kramer for custody of his son, and the culture that no longer resembled the one where father knew best found a new face for fatherhood. In, 1989 Steve Martin brought the stressed and loving Gil Buckman to the screen in Parenthood. Gil and his wife struggled together to raise a family with all the modern challenges of estranged relatives and career pressures. In 2003 Marlin, a widower clown fish, went in search of his son Nemo. Along the way he learned some lessons from a laid-back California style surfer dad Crush about the importance of play and positive reinforcement.Fatherhood comes in many forms, from the traditional to raising children as a single parent, to heading blended families and to parenting from afar. Despite some inspiring father figures on the big screen, the images that many children get of fathers come from television.
Texting with Tim Russell
I was secretly hoping that Tim Russell wasn't serious, or at the very least, detailing an esoteric roadmap to getting laid. Truthfully, this 24-year-old freeskier is completely serious. Sort of. Maturing to backcountry has given Tim more credibility in skiing, but preparing for fatherhood has given him a new perspective on life. As soon as you think Tim is headed for a life of daddy day care and mini-vans, you might want to re-examine his resume. While simultaneously filming with PBP and Rage, in addition to fostering Giv Clothing through a competitive industry, Tim's plate is full year-round. However, don't expect completely grown-up answers and a stodgy attitude because as the 21st century dad is evolving, so is Tim. I thought I would candidly catch up with Tim the modern way, via text messaging.
